Messenger on a White Horse is a feature-length documentary film that explores the life and work of English journalist Robert Cox, the former editor of “The Buenos Aires Herald” daily newspaper, whose investigative reporting in the late 1970s exposed the shocking human rights crimes of Argentina’s military dictators.

The film is directed by the New Zealand-Australian journalist Jayson McNamara, produced by Cabezón films in association with HEcho en Claypole. The project has the support of the Founding Line of Mothers of Plaza de Mayo.

Jayson McNamara

Director, producer, scriptwriter

McNamara was born in Perth, Western Australia. His first feature-length documentary film Messenger on a White Horse prompted the print journalist (former Buenos Aires Herald) to move into the documentary genre, where he has begun producing and directing his second and third projects.

Ernesto Doldán

Editing & post-production

Doldán, a University of Buenos Aires (UBA) Filmmaking graduate and graphic designer, began his career as a sound technician on Desde Abajo (Best Documentary – La Plata Film Festival, 2011). Since 2012, he has worked consistently in post-production in cinema and publicity. Gran Chaco (2014) was his first feature-length film as an editor, and earned Official Selection at the 29th Mar del Plata International Film Festival.

Santiago Carrica

Direction of Photography

A graduate of Filmmaking at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and in Cinematography at SICA, Carrica has worked as a cinematographer and camera operator in Argentina’s robust cinema and publicity industries. Gran Chaco (2014) was his first feature-length film as a DOP and writer, chosen in the Official Selection of the 29th Mar del Plata Film Festival.

 

Agustina Gonzalez Bonorino

Direction of Photography

A graduate of Filmmaking at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Gonzalez Bonorino has worked as a cinematographer and camera operator on several independent fiction and documentary productions. Her debut feature as a director, El Corte, is currently in post-production.
